Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

Two words: cumulative fatigue- a new concept I am trying with a new plan. It's kicking my rear end. Running 6 days a week is making me extra hungry, tired, and moody. I don't know why.

A look back In history, if I may....

I remember transitioning from running three days a week to four back in 2011. That was pushing my comfort zone. In 2013 I began averaging four days a week, that made me feel more invested. In 2014 I started doing five days a week, it was definitely a transition. Now going 6 days a week for this cycle is well, hard. No doubt I will transition just like I have before. Cumulative fatigue.

The idea of this workout was to run at marathon pace.  I'm really not supposed to run any faster than my goal pace which is really closer to 7:03 but sometimes I battle in my head thinking I'm not reaching for a high enough goal. At the end of the day, I would be saisfied running Boston at that pace. I'm making small steps into my goals this year rather than jumping to where I think I should be. I think that will make the year more enjoyable and successful, as a result. Eventually I will get there.

Overall the workout wasn't too bad!:)

Mueller Park with Scott. 9.1 miles in 2:02:09. The first two miles was hard for me. Tired lungs and legs, which I actually expected today due to this weeks' workouts. There is still a lot of snow up there, but little ice. Past Elephant Rock, it wasn't tracked out to Rudy's like we had hoped,  so we turned around and found another trail elsewhere to get the rest of the miles. Upon leaving,  my car got stuck in the parking lot. Good thing I had some stuff in the trunk to hook up to Scott's awesome car that pulled me out. Teamwork! And my legs are tired. Totally unrelated, but I wanted you to remember that.

Dear Diary,

My "long run" is 10 miles this week. I still can't wrap my head around 10 miles being long. I think I basically did a long run today so...do I do another one tomorrow? Guess so. I keep thinking I need a longer run soon! Most people who are training for Boston are doing 17 milers now so my head is going bonkers.  I recently purchased a personalized plan that I start at the end of this month. While waiting, I have just been doing the Advanced plan in their book. I wonder if it will vary much. Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing enough to cover the distance by April. The speed work has been the hardest for me, which is usually easier than the other stuff. Plus it looks so doable on paper so it's throwing me off. As soon as I see the plan, I'm going to just trust it and go with it.

Thanks for listening diary, I'm done whining now...for today.

Slow build up for 2 miles then gradually dropped the pace around 40- 45 seconds above mp. Picked up the last half mile or so. Legs were tired as expected and felt a little bored, but overall felt fine.
