Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

Uh oh. My legs are pretty sore. Maybe the most sore they have been all year. I just paced yesterday, right? Geeze. I was minimally sore after Ogden, hardly any after Deseret News Half and none after Hobble. I was starting to thingkmy legs were MACHINES! Nope, they hurt kinda bad. It must have been from putting on the breaks the entire way. I just didn't want to fall over!!

I hobbled all day around at work today. Grandma style. Great Grandma style, even. Plus, there was a creeper there today, that made getting in and out even harder, but that's normal.

Well, some of the key workouts I still wanted to creep in are out of the picture, I guess. What am I supposed to do for the next week now? Where's Bonnie? Allie? McMillian? He comes here sometimes for ideas.

6AM- A short jaunt down the street led me to believe that if I ran down the hill to Main, I would never make it back. Turned around and warmed up on the elliptical at home for 20 mins, then some slow TM miles. 3 miles

PM- 4.5 miles. Night run with Steve to the track and back. I wanted to see how much the track was lit up at night, if at all. It was dark, but I took a lap anyway, while Steve stretched in the parking lot. On the far side of the track,  I was scared to death by a guy that popped out near me wearing all black . I think he was talking to himself. After I passed he said, "what? WHAT?" So I sprinted out of there back to Steve. Then on the way home I screamed three times over dumb things. Steve says I'm not cut out for night running. Last mile at mp.

5:40AM- I found some pep in my legs today. I jumped out of bed a little earlier today to get my workout in before work. I knew after a few steps, I was going to feel good for the run. I felt like I had unlimited energy. I can't remember the last time I felt that way on a run, or race for that matter. I guess yesterday's break was needed.

6 miles down Main at a steady pace. Turned around and ran a fartlek, 5,4,3,2,1 mins, followed by a 2 mile mp/tempo. Active rest for 1/4 of the time between each. Paces for the fartek were 6:16 (rolling), 6:35 (up), 6:23 (rolling), 5:42 (up and down), 5:18 (down.)  Then I took a 3 minute break before starting  2 mile at 6:37 and 6:49. Lots of up and down hills, with the last mile gradually up. I felt great today. I even got myself breathing hard on the hills. It's good to tap into that part of the lungs every once in a while! I have another tempo scheduled for tomorrow on LPT then a long run on Saturday.

7:00 -Met up with Kam this morning. I half expected to meet with a group, but I guess it didn't work out. We met up by the dam on BST then continued on the trail into Farmington. We walked a couple of climbs, because we felt like it. We turned down on the decent, my legs hated it, especially my left quad that had been sore since I woke up this morning.  We had good discussions about fueling, mental toughness, holistic health, racing strategies and our excitement about the TOU runners!

The plan was to get in some mp miles in the end, but we ended up maneuvering through neighborhoods, fixing tampered campaign signs, and talking about the Centerville election. I was glad to not push my legs today.

Returned home to an ice bath, muscle milk and Yoplait's new Greek Frozen Yogurt. 2x protein, natural ingredients and live active. Good post snack!

I am going crazy with excitement for Allie's TOU win of 2:44!! Our own FRB'er Nan, holds the course record for her 2009 performace of 2:44:10. I'm not sure if the CR was broken today or if it still stands. Ooooo, this is fun!!<:D
