Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

Uh oh. My legs are pretty sore. Maybe the most sore they have been all year. I just paced yesterday, right? Geeze. I was minimally sore after Ogden, hardly any after Deseret News Half and none after Hobble. I was starting to thingkmy legs were MACHINES! Nope, they hurt kinda bad. It must have been from putting on the breaks the entire way. I just didn't want to fall over!!

I hobbled all day around at work today. Grandma style. Great Grandma style, even. Plus, there was a creeper there today, that made getting in and out even harder, but that's normal.

Well, some of the key workouts I still wanted to creep in are out of the picture, I guess. What am I supposed to do for the next week now? Where's Bonnie? Allie? McMillian? He comes here sometimes for ideas.

dear great great grandma tara,

where are you sore? quads?

even if you have to push back some workouts and/or modify your plan, don't be afraid to do that because now is not the time to push through soreness and risk injury.

do you think you can run? if so, just take a few really easy days -- as slow as you need to go. if not -- try walking, cycling, or ellip-tickle-ing. i wouldn't force any workouts until you are feeling back to normal. you still have plenty of time.

also, james says compression gear. he's a fan.

I am so happy I am not the only one. (Not that I want you to be in pain) Mine hurt so freaking bad... like almost cant walk. Compression pants are the only thing that have been making mine feel a little better.

Dear Allie and Mum,

My quads are very sore. Not crazy sore, but great grandma sore. I can run, but not well. Maybe I should Ellipti-tickle...what ever that is. Did mum say to do that? Cause if he did, I will wrap my entire body in tight tape like a mummy, and go at it.

I wanted to sneak in one more yasso...maybe late in the week if I'm feeling it. I guess It's not a must do, just want to go in confident I can hit my time. So maybe cross train and walk tomorrow, then light run next day or two then see...

Wait a sec, do the numbers come out tomorrow? What are we doing here talking about this silly stuff!!?? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

From Tara on Sun, Sep 15, 2013 at 20:53:05 from 75.169.139.210

Christie- I feel like you could have run faster on a less intense course. That was hard to run down! That one hairpin turn around mile 5 was scary to just look at! My legs were already burning already by miles 4-5!

From allie on Sun, Sep 15, 2013 at 21:23:34 from 97.117.89.51

even if you have to push the yasso to early next week, i think it will be okay. of course, everyone has their plan, so do what you feel comfortable with.

i think i bibs come out tomorrow, but it might end up being tuesday. you will know when it happens -- i'll be emailing you glossy head shots and journal entries from #'s 2001 - 2030.

Tara, Glad to hear that I am not the only one that is sore. I was thinking I only paced and I have done so many marathons and I haven't been this sore. I am glad I am not the only one.

From Scott Wesemann on Mon, Sep 16, 2013 at 14:47:36 from 66.232.64.4

The first time I ran down BCC I was super sore for a few days. Even though you weren't running 'fast' that is some serious drop, so I bet just about eveyone is feeling it. I think you should take a few days off and eat cake.

From Andy on Mon, Sep 16, 2013 at 17:13:40 from 76.27.65.244

You are probably more sore than if you had run it fast because of all the braking you had to do. I am more sore now than I have been after any marathon. When I paced Layton 2 weeks ago, I was ready to run the next day. Recovery from this one is going to take a while which means that you and Kam are going to have to enjoy Tempo Tuesday without me tomorrow.
