Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

Early workout at the gym. Started at -2% at mp and worked down to 0%. Picked up the two middle two miles slightly to 6:30. For some reason, this pace felt more comfortable than 6:49. I wanted to drop the pace for a while and bring it back to mp to mentally help me feel mp was comfortable. It felt very effortless today, and the declined helped with that:) 7 mi, 46:50, 6:41ap.

I watched The Following and had nightmares all night long...

Striders 30k today. I paced the 2:29:14 or 8:01 pace group today. I started with a group of 8 and ended up with two, Shayla and Doug. It was fun getting to know their stories and give tips along the way. It was easy to speed up while in conversation and the excitement of the race. To keep pace, I had to slow down and stop at some water stops. I especially loved the stop at mile 13. As I approached the aid station, I slowed down and requested Gatorade. One female volunteer shouted, "Gatorade! I need a Gatorade for a PACER!!" They frantically handed me a cup of Gatorade so that the PACER was taken care of. It made me smile. Great volunteers today. I was lucky to be so close. I realized after the hour mark that the Garmin I was using only went by minutes after an hour, no seconds to go off of. That could mess me up if I go sub 3 in Ogden...

After crossing the line, I spoke with Walter for a bit then had to dash to my car to go to work. I had to bathe in a patient tub which was very awkward. Stayed late and got home late. Sore right knee all day. Hope it's just a niggle and not a curse of the Strider's 30k course. That course has not been kind to me in the past.

I did test out a few gear items in prep for Ogden. First, the running skirt was cute. Just plain cute. BUT in the later miles, I noticed the fatty part on my inner right thigh rubbed too much. It might scab, it might not. Stay tuned for that.

Also, my Kinvara's are awesome, but I think long distance running with them fatigues my legs more than my trainers. Since they are not too much heavier, I am considering wearing them instead. Besides, Cynthia Fowler won last year wearing regular trainers, so I can too. Results- skirt is out, shorts are in. Kinvara's are also out and Brooks Ghost are winners.
