Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

I finished a long stretch of work leaving me no time to run- well that is not accurate. Rather little motivation to run. However, this morning was not aligned with the stars, but it worked out.

I was supposed to meet with a running group at 6am. My alarm clock said 5:45 so I got ready and headed out the door 10 mins later. I looked at my watch and it read 6:30. It turns out my alarm clock was wrong so missed that run. So I planned on  my own route- but before I got anywhere, I had a stomach ache from Hades. That delayed me another 20 minutes...so with time ticking I headed out the door hunched over but still running. 8 ( slightly hunched) miles total.

Nostalgic. It reminded me of my college running days when I delivered my daughter via c-section my Junior year. I felt so much pressure to get out and run again to earn my scholarship back that I began hunched running 9 days postpartum and tore most of my stitches. I was dumb back then. Today no stitches were torn, but likely not any smarter:)

Happy cold running!

I was coming here to wish you congratulations for the Nike contract, and then, and then, yuck!

From Tara on Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at 18:56:43 from 75.169.144.128

No, you're yucky! Okay, let's start over. Hello, I'm Tara.

From Burt on Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at 19:41:48 from 174.254.19.178

Hi Tara. I'm Burt. So. How's your womanly stitches doing lately?

From Tara on Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at 20:45:44 from 75.169.144.128

Wouldn't you like to know. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I mean, good, they are doing well. So well that I will have to get them surgically worked on in the next few years if you really want to know, but since you didn't...thanks for asking.

From Burt on Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at 21:36:46 from 174.254.19.178

That's fantastic. I wish you the best of luck with that.

That is bad. seriously NOT at all what a postpartum woman should be doing!!! But hey I road my bike 20 miles the day after foot surgery (bunionectomy) so not any smarter than you. But for a baby I would not run. I would sit and hold and hold and hold. : D

Julie- Insane attracts insane right! But you really kinda know about this stuff...not the insane part, but the whole baby, c-section- well you know stuff.

Is there such a thing as happy cold running? I think yes, under certain conditions. It needs to be dark, around 25 degrees with light snow falling as you run through Christmas lit up neighborhoods. During the inversions, there is no happy cold running.

From runningafterbabies on Tue, Dec 27, 2011 at 01:12:26 from 71.195.219.247

Csections stink! It took me weeks to recover from it. 9 days. You are very hard core!
