Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

.Today needed to be a tempo day due to starting another work week on Thursday and needing to move up my long run to Friday. I can't wait for June to roll around when I will only have to work one weekend a month in addition to other weekdays. Come on June!

Today's workout was just okay. I felt much more tired than usual. I'm usually more of a slacker on the weekends with my diet and sleep. Saturday's long run wore me out too. It didn't help that I stayed up late playing Words with Friends with Burt. He's such a cheater.

4 mile wu

4 mile tempo @ 6:46, 6:44, 6;40, 6:30 ( 60 sec. water stop after first mile)

1 mile cd

HRmax @ <95% (98 bpm@ 30secs)

My HR indicates my fatigue pretty accurately. I should start wearing my monitor again to dictate my workouts/paces. My max usually sits on the high end for women my age. In college I was maxing at 215 when it should have been around 195. Maybe I'll be one of those people who collapses at a marathon finish line from a heart attack. Hopefully that's the case when I'm 99.

Awesome negative split Tara.

I found a new reason to get old: Snowbasin issues a season pass to anybody over age 75 for a mere $35. I'm abandoning my plan to die at age 58.

Rachelle- Thanks!

Kam- I'm guessing there aren't too many elders catching the latest powder. More elderly runners, I'd say. What do I know, I've never been skiing in my life.

nice tempo run, tara. never play any online games with burt -- cheat, cheat, cheat. he once sent a virus to my computer because i beat him at yahtzee.

james just informed me that his max HR is 240. he's a hummingbird.

From Tara on Mon, Mar 25, 2013 at 20:39:00 from 75.169.137.208

240!!!!!!!! Aside from humming birds. I've never heard of it that high!

I wouldn't put that past Burt for a second. I kind of consider him a virus. He plays dirty cheap shots all day long.

Good progressive tempo Tara. You were clearly not rested enough with such a high HR. But you got it done :)

98 is high?

From Tara on Wed, Mar 27, 2013 at 16:53:18 from 69.171.178.28

Julie- No, 98 bpm is not high. But 98bpm@30 is 98x2=198bpm. I wrote it confusing, I admit.
