Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

Today I ran 10 on Davis' rolling hills. This is a love/hate course for me. Loves: The scenerey, safe road, long stretch and familiar. Hate: rolling hills, hard to get a steady pace/cadence, steep climb there and steep decent on return, millions of deer with thier babies, scared cougars are going to pounce on me in the dark and having to stop to wait for traffic at busy intersections. Huh, looks like the hates out weigh the loves here, but I still love it overall for some reason:) As a side note, saw 11 deer this AM.

Ran 5 miles for a warmup then did 4 mile tempo on the way back with 1 mile cool down. All the miles were rolling hills with some minor stops for traffic, last mile was downhill. Splits were 7:08, 7:20 7:09, 6:38. Felt pretty good and still had energy when I got home. Feeling stronger. Hopefully I have made some improvements over the month and will be able to challenge my PR in the half in two weeks.

Why would the cougars pounce on you if they have so many baby deer to choose from?

We (my cross country team) did a water stop last year at the Halloween half and might do it again this year. I'll try to not scare up the cougars for that one! I think you really deep down love the rollers, you hate hate flat. Love rollers and hate flat!:0

Burt- Good question. I actually thought it about it for a good portion of my run how I could look scary and fight off a cougar if I had to. I came up dry.

James- lol, I don't get it. Hate flat love rollers:)....I do, I think.
