Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

I was a big running slacker over the weekend due to camping in the Tetons. I caught and ate my first fish! I hate fish, but want to like it. So that will one of the goals for 2012. Eat and tolerate fish. Blah. Not excited about that one.

AM-Today I did a fartlek of 5,4,3,2,1 mins at 10k-5k pace.  The junk I ate over the weekend certainly took its toll this morning during the workout.  Paces were: 6:07, 6:00, 5:56, 5:45, 5:30. The faster paces actually felt more comfortable than the 6mi/mi pace oddly enough. I need to challenge my paces more often it seems. I would like to think I could run these shorter races this fast right now, but I need to transition my training from marathon to 10k training for the winter.  I think I am going to start focusing on 10k pacing after the half this month up until spring.

Afterwards stretched out with 10 mins of planks alternating sides. These are never easy for me.

PM-6 miles down 400 with lots of rain and wind.  Loved it!

Happy running!

You WILL eat fish and you WILL like it!

From Kam on Tue, Oct 11, 2011 at 11:37:19 from 68.66.163.179

Try Van De Camp fish sticks. Fish is gross. Life is too short to eat gross food you don't like. You logged a lot of Monday miles, Tara. You must have been very bad over the weekend.

fish...10ks...plank...bleck!

great workout, tara!

I think it's more of a "blech" than a "bleck".

From allie on Tue, Oct 11, 2011 at 12:54:05 from 161.38.218.168

pardon me.

blech!

From Tara on Tue, Oct 11, 2011 at 14:45:41 from 68.165.29.247

Allie- It was a sort of a "bleck day", any day you do, "Allie's 10 minute planks," it deserves a BLECK!

Kam- I will have to try those things. you are right... life is too short to tourture yourself! And I've been trying to get more miles in for the week. I think that might be my downfall to getting better, I really don't do enough miles in the week due to an injured past. Id like to work up to 70 a week (50 running, 20 cross training) if I can.

Burt- I felt like that was either a threat or a postitive motivating statement. Either way, you are right!

I was just kidding about the fish sticks. Just take a supplement, or go without your omega three fatty acids.

Good workout Tara! Tetons sound fun-but I don't like fish either. (Wish I could run the Halloween half-too bad I live so stinkin far!)

I wish you could run it with me too, except then you would beat me and I for sure would not have a chance in winning. So stay home.
