Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

6:00am- Tempo Tuesday with Kam and Andy. I really didn't want to push anything today with Hobble Creek Half on Saturday. Good thing the guys are really laid back, they went with the flow and ran an easier effort today for my benefit. They are great to run with. Andy is so gifted at pacing and judging effort. He is always a consistent runner. He runs effortlessly and makes the hard efforts look easy. Kam is great for coaching and strategic planning. He gets me pumped and primed mentally to race. I appreciate his feedback and tips. Other than that, I really can't stand the two.

We ran out 4.5 miles at a very nice 8:30 pace, then did a progressive 3 miles back at 7:30, 7:00, 6:30. Felt great except for a minute or so when someone brought up cupcakes. Running or not, those things make me sick! Ugh, I can't even think about them anymore without getting nauseous.  Three weeks of cupcake themed get- togethers have cured me of the things. I just need to have a few chocolate get- togethers to cure that addiction, and I should be set.

I'm not quite sure what to expect this Saturday. I feel ready for a PR but within reason. Beating my course PR from 2011 (1:23:45) is a good start. Beating this years PR from Des News (1:22:58) would be even better, but my all time PR of 1:22:34 would be great! Anything in the 21 range would be icing and I think within reach. SO back to the top, anything under 23:45 would be nice. See, I just have to think it through:)

Good luck tara! U can do it!

Bahahaha! Poor Kam and Andy. They're so sweet, though.

I will still show up for the weekly run whether you like me or not. Where else could running conversations include polka dot underwear and lulu lemon bras?

From Tara on Tue, Aug 13, 2013 at 15:29:15 from 70.208.6.4

Hey you brought up the polka dot undies! The bra? That was either Kam or me, I can't remember. Oh wait, his input consisted of new running shorts and murdering a mouse. We really couldn't do this run too much earlier, our conversations would only get more strange.

i think you are in a good place right now and you will run well on saturday. i hope you get your non-cupcake-related icing.

You've got this! What is the elevation profile compared to Des News?

From Kass on Wed, Aug 14, 2013 at 12:21:22 from 98.202.223.143

Great workout! I think you have a good goal that is very doable for you!! It'll be fun!

You are going to crush Hobble. Good luck!

Polka dot undies/lulu lemon bra- I own one out of two.

From Tara on Thu, Aug 15, 2013 at 11:57:29 from 75.169.140.50

Christi- Thanks:) Let me know when you are in town again. I'd like to go for a run together on our old stomping grounds.

Burt- You have a sweet spirit.

Melody- Well, the elevation profile is more promising for Des News at 1650 drop compared to HC's 1250. I bet the times end up being comparable at any rate. HC

s race result history is quite impressive.

Kassi- You're part of the reason why the history is so impressive. Also, thanks for the encouragement!

Scott- Thanks! FYI, I own neither of the two!:)

Did you just call me ugly? Oh well. I'll take what I can get. Sweet spirit works for me.
