Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

I spent a lot of wasted hours at the gym this morning do not being able to sleep sleep. It turns out I'm still on Hawaii time, 4 hours earlier.

AM: 20 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes on the recumbent bike and a 5k at half marathon pace. Followed by lots of stretching, sitting, and watching TV while everyone else work hard around me.

PM: Met up with Allie to go over the course for the haunted half on Saturday. it seems like it's going to be mostly downhill, but there are several miles that are certainly up. It makes me nervous pacing the 130 group now. If anyone would like to come help pace, or meet me on any part of the course to make sure I'm doing okay, you would be a saint. I'm sure I'm overthinking it. 5 miles at 7:35 AP Downhill and I was breathing harder then I should have. What?

The best part was when I went over to Allie's after the run, she offered me Gatorade. since I didn't want that much, I asked for a cup to drink it in. She proceeds to look through several cupboard in the kitchen while climbing on top of cupboards to retrieve some brand new cups (still wraped) likely from her wedding. Meanwhile, I see a bunch of "cups" in her cupboard and tell her one of those would be fine. "Oh you mean a mug?" apparently in the Moore household, mugs and cups are completely different. I learned a lot that night. She has a darling house and a stores worth of brand new running shoes to go with it. I've never seen anything like it before.

I drank Gatorade in a mug.

So sweet. Tara, I'm sure you will be just fine on Sat. Are you doing the winter racing circuit? What are the perks of doing it? Did you win an overall prize?

From DaleG on Thu, Oct 18, 2012 at 00:55:52 from 152.216.3.5

Good story. Funny visual thinking of allie climbing around on cupboards.

From Tara on Thu, Oct 18, 2012 at 23:37:04 from 75.169.138.78

Allie- so are you telling me that is the jumper that James puts on before heading out the door? I like him even more now. that is great! just don't let me catch him with any biscuits in his hand!!! lol!

Melody- I'm not planning on the Winter Series this year Andorra I do it will be in Slc. I placed third in Striders series. No much cash but lots of gear. winner received 100, second 75, and 50 for third. All Of the races were in Ogden. I'm not sure what Salt Lake City Series offers. Maybe there's a series close to you? What are you thinking? have you ever thought about doing the USA series. I know allie is doing it and it sounds like a good bang for your buck!

Hi Kam - What are you doing?

Burt- I know what you're doing.

Dale- Hello!

From DaleG on Thu, Oct 18, 2012 at 23:45:39 from 152.216.3.5

Hello!

I'm planning on running the SLC Track Club Winter Series AND the USATF circuit next year. I can't wait.

From DaleG on Thu, Oct 18, 2012 at 23:45:54 from 152.216.3.5

The Striders Series is too hard. lol

From Tara on Thu, Oct 18, 2012 at 23:52:41 from 75.169.138.78

Dale- Looks like we're on the same track! And yes, Striders tore me to pieces, literally.

From runningafterbabies on Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 13:35:56 from 71.195.219.247

Tara- thanks for the info. There really aren't a lot of races locally (Ut County) in the winter and I thought it might be good motivation for me to stay in shape this winter. I looked at the courses for the Striders circuit and BOY they look TOUGH!

From Kam on Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 13:50:15 from 68.66.163.179

Melody, the first three courses are VERY tough. The half is aided, and the 30k is flat. You'd have good competition, scratch that, you would provide good competition for the usual suspects. It's pretty far to drive, though.

From Tara on Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 14:13:59 from 75.169.138.249

Melody- Yeah, Kam said it well. The half is aided but has rollers at the end. The 30k is nice. I felt like it was a long drive from here. Maybe Melanie or Emily will do it and car pool? I'd be willing to bet that Stefenie and Sariah are back. Maybe Janae too. It would be a good group to compete with! I say do it. They are very generous with the goods.
