Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

I got my workout clothes on this morning in anticipation of running. My legs and lack of motivation discouraged the idea. I really just need to roll those puppies out.! A good run would probably really just be the best idea to get the lactic acid out. I didn't know how out of shape my legs were going in to this race. Run tomorrow.

I did run however in the parking lot to cast my vote!

Also, I won the lottery! The Ogden Marathon lottery that is:) I looked over the course and it doesn't look as fast as I hoped it would be. For those that have ran it, did you like it? I basically like being timed as I jump off a cliff.

You deserve some time off, seriously. Nice race on Saturday!! That is such an awesome time! :) I hope I someday get 1st place when I'm just coming off an injury. And yes, you totally won. Maybe next time people should reconsider going so fast when they take someone else's number...idiot!

I am the same way, I prefer to just run well aided courses! :)

It's not that bad of a downhill, of course now I compare everything to Huntsville and this is Nothing like that quad burner. It's one of my favorite.

in my opinion, ogden is a fast marathon. and clearly a popular one since they had to switch to a lottery system.

these aren't terribly specific to your question, but there's some good information scattered throughout these duscussions (including a link to the course tool!):

Josse- Youre the inaugural winner, I believe! Very cool.

Ogden is my favorite marathon! The hill is in the right place for me and I love the downhill finish. Beautiful course! I don't have a lot of intelligent comments about it, but I just know that it is my favorite :) Not enough downhill to kill the quads, but enough to carry you through to a good time.

Oh yes, Ogden. I signed up for it in 2008, but I didn't train properly, and I couldn't afford the trip. But I had my friend pick up my shirt. So, that's my experience with it. Love it or leave it.

It was UVM not Ogden

From Rob on Wed, Nov 07, 2012 at 07:34:05 from 206.71.84.68

Yes Burt, I'm sure that information will come in real handy for Tara right around mile 18.

"If I would have just followed Burts advice my legs wouldn't be cramping right now and I'd still have the shirt".

Thanks Rob. I like to provide perspectives from every angle of the spectrum.

Ogden has the potential to be a fast course but it is hard to run it properly. I've run it 3 times and have hit the wall too early every time and was unable to take advantage of the downhill coming down Ogden canyon. I think the key is to be conservative the initial 8 miles of downhill so that you have the energy to push during miles 20-24.

From Tara on Thu, Nov 08, 2012 at 07:26:53 from 69.171.187.12

Very good advice, Andy. That seems to be the popular advice about this course. I always appreciate your input , thanks!

From Ethan on Thu, Nov 08, 2012 at 07:31:18 from 206.71.84.68

Or you could go with Burts.

I'm just kiddin' with you Burt, I think your Ogden Marathon experience is a great one.
