Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

Fun race to kick of Allie and James wedding day. Tons of people from the blog. Met Brooke on the blog who lives in the area. She just had a baby 5 weeks ago! Ran with her and Kam a little for a warmup. We had the option to run the 5k in a relay or individual. Since I have no speed I decided to go solo and use as a half marathon pace workout. Everyone was in good spirits and easy going. I think I was 1 of maybe 5 that ran the entire 5k. It felt relaxed and easy, just what I needed today, with no pressure to push. Stats- First for women in the individuals category. I think there were only 1 or 2 others:)  20:09 for 3.16 miles according to Garmin, showed me a bit over. How does that happen on a track?  I wasn't challenging a PR today:0. So fun! No pain, just a little reminder in the last .75 mile. Cooled down with Andrea and Devera and a couple others I had not met before. Good to see everyone. Thanks for throwing this race Allie and James!

I think Bonnie's rubbing it in my face.

Thanks Allie!

Jake-Good to see you, especially in those shorts!:)

Julie- Injury is in the semitendinosus muscle. One of the four hamstring muscles that attaches to my back pelvis bone in my glut (ischium). Darn it! That is my guess so far, I will find out for sure on Monday. Where is yours, I think yours is lower, right? Are they starting you with exercises yet or just elcorotherapy, ultrasound etc?

Bonnie- Hi! SO good to meet you. I can see why everyone loves you. Such a good aura about you!

Burt- Are you jealous? A quick google search came up with this... http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Being-Jealous

That's real good advice. I'm jealous that I didn't think to look on google first.

nothing yet. i went to 7 peaks instead of the chiro. appt now thurs. but the pain hasn't dissipated. so did ultrasound or electrotherapy work better for you? mine is in the thick of the muscle outside hamstring. Don't even know what they call that one. Will have look it up here in a bit. seriously is more unrunnable than PF. the pain is way more INTENSE--- like when you see a sprinter fall to the ground grasping the back of his leg. Is that how yours felt???

From Tara on Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 21:44:22 from 75.169.155.164

Oh no Julie! Mine is nothing like that. My was gradual, it started when I paced for SLC half (9:00 pace which I think really messed it up for that long downhill) then really took off during and after a 30k race I did the next week in April. But nothing sudden for sure. I read that with 3rd degree tears, sometimes you need surgery. Level 3 specifiers include severe pain, limping, bruising and sudden pain. Hopefully your symptoms are not as significant. Electrotherapy and ultrasound were done on the same day for me. I loved them both and they were helpful. Kineso tape worked wonders too. I don't think the tape can make up for a detached hamstring though:) Let me know.
