Long-Term Running Goals:

I love training with others both on road and trail. I also find benefits of running solo when I need to focus and regroup.

Fun fact: Although I prefer to run outside, I don't mind the treadmill for pace accountability and for the blind assumption that I can run really fast. I have a lot of secret treadmill PR's at 0% incline:)

Elliptical and Treadmill warm-up then ran progressive 3 mile. Splits were around half marathon to marathon pace at 6:49, 6:38, 6:15. 20:22 for 5k. Then ran 4x30 seconds at 5:00 with equal rest. During the last repeat, the lights went out at the gym causing the treadmill to stop for a second. Can't afford any sudden stops at 12mph on the treadmill! Thank goodness I caught myself. It reminded me of this clip:)

Nice workout... and especially a good job not flying off the treadmill! :-)

At least no one would have seen you in the dark.

That's quite a video.

How fast are you going to run on Sat?

From Tara on Wed, Apr 25, 2012 at 13:14:19 from 75.169.148.68

I really wanted to get your take on the course first. Is it mostly flat? Is the hill that substantial? I was thinking around 6:50 pace then see if I can pick up the last 5k. How about you, my friend;)

From Kam on Wed, Apr 25, 2012 at 13:58:05 from 68.66.163.179

The hill is nothing much. It's like the climb from LPT on 500 S to I-15; just the slightest incline. You could probably treat it like a flat. The rollers before and after will be more significant than the "hill". It just looks big in the elevation profile, but it's really 100ish feet of climb over 3 miles.

So what do you think if the pace? What are your plans? I think I could pull off 6:40s but I don't want to chance crashing at the end. I need to think of a good strategy ti race against these ladies since we are so close. I'd like to keep them in sight and then turn it on the last 3 miles. The only prob with that plan is that it isn't conducive to getting a 2 min lead that I need. Thoughts?

Good luck this weekend. Exactly how much are you behind again? How you approach this might have to do with whether you want to go for broke or not.

From Tara on Wed, Apr 25, 2012 at 21:28:42 from 75.169.148.68

I'll pm you for strategy.
